Course title: |
Active Chairing |
Target audience: |
Anyone who chairs, either regularly meeting groups or one-off events, whether formal or informal in style |
Course Description: |
How to prepare for and run an effective meeting with tips and techniques to help you lead each section proactively to achieve clear outcomes.
Whether formal or apparently casual, if a meeting is to achieve anything, it needs to be planned and prepared for, with each section chaired professionally so that it results in an effective action plan that can be followed up and tracked over time. There is more to the process of managing a meeting than people realise. The chair is responsible for managing the people, time, content and outcomes as well as ensuring that the minute-taker has the information necessary for the minutes. Most muddle through, learning as they go; this workshop fast-tracks that learning.
Plan a meeting with a useful agenda and work to ensure that everyone arrives prepared and ready to contribute , use each section of the meeting correctly, manage discussion, encouraging participation and closing each item effectively, define clear outcomes and actions, managing these from one meeting to the next for efficiency and to create a clear audit trail and work with the minute-taker to ensure timely, accurate minutes. |
