Essential Palliative Care 2-day training for New Starters |

All nurses new to CityCare, including NQN’s, NA’s, RGN’s, District nurses, Specialist nurses and Matrons. |
| Course Description: |
This essential two day course is designed to support new starters who are caring for patients in the last year of life. It provides the fundamental knowledge and skills required to deliver high quality palliative care within the community.
Day 1: Participants will be introduced to the importance of EPaCCS and the Gold Standards Framework (GSF), ReSPECT and advance care planning, holistic assessment, completing fast track referrals, and key communication skills.
Day 2: The second day focuses on symptom management, anticipatory medications, recognising when a patient is dying, providing care in the last days of life, syringe driver competencies, and Verification of Death training. Please bring a syringe driver to Day 2 where possible.
Attendance is also welcomed from any registered healthcare professional wishing to refresh or broaden their understanding of palliative care. Please note: this course replaces the previous one day New Starter Training. Attendance on both days is required. |
